Finding the middle ground between recreation and addiction.

Alcohol is a huge part of our culture…

It’s used all over the world. and has been for thousands of years.

It’s used for celebration, marking a life event, grieving the loss of a loved one or simply going out with friends on a day off from work. Most people who drink, do so in a normal way. They use alcohol appropriately. But what happens when things go over that line?  Where is the line?

I designed this webinar to help answer questions about alcohol use using science based facts. I did the research so you don’t have to.

In this 2 hour
Zoom webinar we will cover:

  • How much is too much alcohol in a given week
  • Gray area drinking and spectrum of drinking between addiction and recreation
  • How to support sober-curious clients

Hi, I’m Betsy.

I’m here to help you gain confidence and competence in working with substance use.

I’m a licensed therapist, substance use counselor, clinical supervisor and a person in long-term recovery from substance use. I am passionate about bringing solid, research-based information to my fellow therapists about drugs and alcohol.

Like many of you, I didn’t get enough training about substance use and had to figure it out on my own. That was a long and tedious road.I am committed to helping colleagues gain the information they need without having to track it down themselves.

Clincally speaking, I stepped down from being the director of a community mental health agency in 2019 and went into private practice. I love being able to work from home! I live in the woods of NW Wisconsin with my husband, two kittens (Mica and Eden) and with my two grown daughters living nearby.

What Other Therapists Have Said

Check out what others have to say about working with me:

“Betsy has a way of infusing heart into everything she does, while at the same time being fiercely authentic. Her passion for substance abuse and mental health is unmatched. Having Betsy as a supervisor afforded me a glimpse into how to navigate the complex world of substance abuse and mental health. Working with substance abuse can be overwhelming because addiction isn’t rational and doesn’t always make sense. With Betsy’s guidance I developed more confidence and comfort in trusting my ability to treat both substance abuse and mental health. My time spent with Betsy was a privilege and I highly recommend anyone who has the opportunity to take advantage of what she has to offer. ” Justin S. LICSW, LADC

“During my time working with Betsy, I have appreciated how easy she is to talk with.  She has a wealth of knowledge and experience, yet explains information in a way that is easy to understand and easy to apply to my clients.  I left our consultation with several ideas about how to move forward with clients and address concerns I was unsure how to handle.  Her experience, knowledge and the time she shares with you are worth so much!”
