Episode 93

I had the privilege of “meeting” Jean McCarthy as a guest on her podcast, The Bubble Hour. She was a gracious host, providing a place for people to tell their stories of recovery. It was after the interview that we talked, not as two podcasters or content creators, but as two women in recovery. She told me about a group called She Recovers. I’d never heard of it.

Here we are a year later and She Recovers has become part of my life. I chair meetings there every so often and am part of a great group of women who are in healthcare or allied professions. When I began thinking about the event that my colleague Dr. Jenny Hughes and I are putting on in August, I thought about Jean. Her presence is so comforting and encouraging. Her humility is so evident. I’m so happy to bring her story to you today. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
